Renewal Process

Per the State, applicants will receive a renewal notice several months before your renewal is due. It is the licensee’s responsibility to keep up with due dates and ensure their renewal is filed on time. Individuals will be able to place their licensee in an inactive state for a limited period of time if they are not actively working in the field.

Other items of note, related to the renewal process from NJACCA’s public policy team with Princeton Public Affairs Group.

The adoptions state that if a licensee fails to renew their license after thirty days, their license is automatically suspended, without a hearing. The adoptions also changed the regulations to no longer require a test for reactivation if a licensee is inactive for five years. Lastly, in order to have a suspended license reinstated, an applicant must distinguish the length of their suspension, their employment and professional history, any disciplinary action taken against the licensee by ANY licensing Board, and any civil litigation related to their practice as a master HVACR contractor.

Reinstatement For Contractors Who Failed to Renew

A person who has had his or her license suspended pursuant to N.J.A.C.13:32A-3.1(f) may apply to the Board for reinstatement.  Click here for more information.
